Why do I need pilates instructor insurance?
Even as a qualified pilates instructor, some circumstances are out of your control. Someone could claim against you because of injury, your equipment could be lost or damaged, or you may hurt yourself and be out of action for longer than you want. This is why you need specialist pilates instructor insurance to protect you from such incidents.
With Insure4Sport, you can build your pilates instructor insurance policy from a range of cover options including; Public Liability, Professional Indemnity, Personal Accident, Loss of Earnings, Equipment cover and Employers’ Liability.
What does pilates instructor insurance cover?
Public Liability cover against injury or property damage: Injury is a genuine risk when teaching pilates, no matter what equipment you use or however thorough your instructions are.
During one of your sessions, if you were teaching an exercise which injured a participant, they could claim compensation from you.
This is why pilates instructors need Public Liability, which covers your legal liability for third party injury and third party property damage. Most venues you teach in will ask for proof that you have Public Liability before allowing you to hold sessions.
- Insure4Sport offers up to £10 million of Public Liability cover.
- When you choose Public Liability you also receive up to £1 million Professional Indemnity cover, which protects you in the event someone from your class injures themselves, following advice you’ve given.
Personal Accident cover if you require treatment: Due to the flexibility required to perfect pilates exercises and the tension they place on your core muscles, there’s always a possibility you could injure yourself.
If this happens, you need Personal Accident cover, which provides compensation if you sustain a serious injury, are admitted to hospital or require physiotherapy for your injuries.
- With Insure4Sport, you can get from £10,000 up to £50,000 of Personal Accident cover.
- On top of our Personal Accident cover, we also offer Loss of Earnings cover up to £750 a week for up to 52 weeks, meaning you’ll be financially supported if you’re out of action.
Compensation for equipment repairs and replacements: All manner of things can happen to your equipment, leaving you unable to teach if you don’t have specialist pilates instructor insurance.
The sound system and speakers you use to stream songs during classes could be stolen or lost. What’s more, you could drop your sound system and damage it. Thankfully, these scenarios are covered by our pilates instructor insurance.
- Our Equipment cover protects you against loss, theft or damage of your equipment – whether at home, at work or whilst in use.
- We’ll cover the replacement of your insured equipment on a New-for-Old basis, provided it’s less than a year old and was purchased new, and will pay for repairs up to the limit stated in Your Insurance Schedule.
